Understanding and mitigating our carbon footprint is a core focus of our supply chain operations. We recognize the significant environmental impact of transportation, and other activities within our supply chain and are committed to reducing our carbon emissions at every stage.

Our initiatives include optimizing transportation routes to reduce fuel consumption, adopting energy-efficient technologies, and promoting renewable energy sources. In recognition of these efforts, we proudly hold a Carbon Neutral Certification, affirming our commitment to minimizing our environmental impact and supporting global climate action.

In alignment with INDEVCO Group’s commitment to increasing the use of certified chain-of-custody fiber from global sources and to increase the use of recycled materials, INDEVCO Supply Chain member companies for procurement and trading, GESPA and Altatrade, report that 97% of paper, pulp, and fluff raw material suppliers are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), 60% are endorsed by the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), and 5% are accredited by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI).

GESPA and Altatrade responsibly source virgin paper materials from certified sustainable forests. Their performance is regularly monitored through external standards such as Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) and EcoVadis CSR Scorecard audits.

Another initiative involves promoting modal shifts in freight transportation to more sustainable modes of transport. For example, encouraging the use of rail or inland waterway transportation instead of long-haul trucking can significantly reduce emissions per ton-mile. Similarly, promoting the use of cleaner fuels and technologies in maritime shipping, such as LNG-powered vessels or wind-assisted propulsion systems, can help reduce the environmental impact of sea freight.

Encouraging clients to use sustainable packaging materials and optimizing packaging designs to minimize waste and maximize space utilization. This not only reduces the amount of packaging required but also allows for more goods to be transported in each shipment, ultimately lowering the number of trips needed and decreasing overall transportation emissions.

As part of our sustainability initiative, we’ve integrated green logistics practices throughout our supply chain. In transportation, we prioritize the use of low-emission vehicles and alternative fuels to minimize greenhouse gas emissions. Through route optimization and load consolidation, we strive to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce unnecessary mileage.

In warehousing and distribution, we ensure the implementation of energy-efficient practices such as LED lighting, motion sensors, and smart heating and cooling systems to minimize energy consumption. We also focus on waste reduction and recycling initiatives to minimize our environmental footprint and promote circular economy principles.

Additionally, our commitment to sustainability extends to our choice of partners and suppliers. We prioritize collaboration with suppliers who share our values and adhere to responsible environmental practices.

In line with INDEVCO Group efforts and as part of the forward-thinking and sustainable initiative, INDEVCO Supply Chain has enthusiastically joined the electric vehicle (EV) movement. Recognizing the global shift towards cleaner transportation, our member company GESPA has incorporated EVs into its fleet, aligning with the environmental goals.
